My Chrony developed a wee problem during my last range visit. (It's an older unit, probably 10 or 12 years old).

After giving six good readings, the display wouldn't stop cycling though numbers after the shot.

I tried replacing the battery and it simply went nuts as soon as I connected the battery or turned the unit on after shutting it off.

Has anyone had a similar problem with their Shooting Chrony?

Any ideas on how to correct it?

Shoot it. I bet it stops.:p

Why didn't I think of that?

Oh, I was hoping to still use it as a chronograph (as opposed to a paperweight).

Sent an e-mail to Chrony. Will see what their advice will be.

Maybe it's time to move up to a newer model.:)

thats what my dad's old chrony does. Pulled i out of the cupboard to use it and when you turn it on it just goes nuts. I guess its time for a new one.

I've got an older Chrony and it's done that before too. Could it possibly have been due to poor light conditions? Mine has cycled through the numbers like that too in the winter when the sun was low on horizon. I think the new Chrony models are a little less sensitive to adverse light conditions than the older models are.

The sun was defintely low and it was about -20C. The sky was bright, though.

I think I'll try one more session before considering a replacement.
