Churchill 206 silver

Yeah, I have one, I wasn't sure what I wanted to do with it, but it has become my go to grouse and rabbit gun. From my experience with it, it points well enough, carries and functions well; even when covered in dust from riding in an ATV. Ejection is positive, and it has yet to fail to go bang when the trigger is pressed. One thing I would do if I ever get around to it, is to replace the front bead with a fibre optic one. The red polymer in place doesn't do as good a job visibility wise as I'd like in some situations.

Thanks for the reply. The price seems right, noticed it on sale for 799$. Might pull the trigger. Seems to be working well for you.

Except that you shouldn't be looking at the bead..... because if you are then your not looking at the target! If the gun fits you then the bead is just a distraction and a bright bead often is a detriment to wing shooting.

Completely agree!

As for the 206, I handled one a couple weeks back and its a lot of gun for the price. The quality of walnut used is also very nice. I did not like the matte barrel version. That for me is a definite no go. My Churchill 512 has incredible fit and finish especially for the price point and the 206 seemed to be on par. I would definitely recommend handling one first to see how it fits you. If it doesn't fit well, you wont shoot it well

It’s a matter of personal preference. For my eyes, I prefer something brighter and easier to pick up.

I get it, each to their own. And I'm not trying to tell you what you should be doing, just that a lot of people who have switched to bright beads have seen their scores/kills decrease because the brightness pulls the eye toward it instead of the target. Some people can use bright beads but most cannot. If the gun fits you well then you really don't even need a bead. I have a side by side that I shoot better with no bead than with one, the reason is that the bead is really large, bright and easy to see, so much so that it gets in the way! Regardless one thing is for certain, as soon as you take your focus away from the target then you miss!

It arrived today. Surprised it came with a case also. An ugle case but a case non the less. For 799$ Canadian. Not to shabby at all. Can't wait to go back to shot some clays .

That's a nice looking piece of kit! It makes mine look like a K-Car next to a Cadillac. And you got a case to boot. I'd say that was a pretty good deal. Good luck and I hope you enjoy shooting it.

Hi Mister Falconflyer:

How many hours do you figure that you "bounced" that Churchill about on your ATV whilst hunting grouse?

I believe you have created some sort of "shake test" for the gun.

Could some mechanical engineering types reading this post please educate me on the correct term for that shake test thing?

Anyways, After shaking the insides of that Turkish Churchill on farm type machinery for numerous hours, does the damn thing still go bang?

Who cares if it has a bead.

Thank you Mister Falconflyer.
