Hello friends, i have a quick question about buying firearms online
From stores in other provinces. If i buy a firearm in Ontario or
manitoba, does the retailer do the whole quebec unrestricted registry
Or is that the responsibility of the buyer upon receiving it. Talking about
Unrestricted firearms.
Thank you in advance!!

SIAF is only for gun purchased from a Quebec dealer or private seller.
The seller initiate the removal from SIAF. The buyer do have to provide his info - provided anyway for the PAL verification and reference number..same infos to complete the form to remove it from SIAF.
Buyer have nothing to do after that, since that registry does not apply to others province.

Ontario have nothing to do with SIAF. It’s a Quebec only thing.

If you buy from Ontario or any other Province - I can see you live in Montreal - you- the Quebec buyer have to register your gun with SIAF within 30 days of owning it. Nobody else have to be involved than you in this process.

You can register it online by opening a free account with SIAF.

There is now a registry for all of Canada again. At least according to the RCMP it says so on their recording. If you sell or give your guns away you must call the RCMP and give the serials and make model as well as their PAL number. So we have once again a registry.

No serials/make for private transactions (only PAL and other ID details). Stores have to record everything though.

When you call their number the second recording they play says you need to give the buyers PAL and serials numbers and they even mention it is a registry.

FALSE. It’s PAL verification..nothing to do with guns serial numbers or specs. It’s not a registry but a buyer- seller PAL verification system.
It sucks but it is what it is.
