Hello everyone, I was just gifted a CIL 125 .22SLLR. Overall great shape, but is missing the magazine and the front sight. I've done some reading and saw a few other manufacture's mags will fit.

Does anyone know if any of the adapted or a new replacement feeds .22 short properly before I purchase one? I'm really only interested in using it for shorts but would like to shoot LR if needed.

Also anyone know of the size and height of the front sight? In pictures it looks like the front sight was covered.

It would be nice to make this as close to original as possible.

Thanks

The CIL Anschutz Model 125 is the same rifle as the Anschutz Model 1400 and magazines are interchangeable. Anschutz made several models of rifle branded C.I.L.
You have an excellent rifle.

The CIL Anschutz 125 (and Anschutz 1400) use the same standard Anschutz magazine that is used on 64 action and 54 action repeaters. (Shown at bottom.)

Some shooters looking to save money adapt an Savage Wisner magazine with some slight modification.

The front sight appears to be currently available on the Rimfire Parts and Accessories Exchange. See what Longstud has available here: https://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/threads/anschutz-sights-for-youth-model.2471985/

Re: Shorts-the first 22 I ever bought was an Anschutz 1450, used the mag type grauhanen posted^. I tried with shorts in the 5rd. mag-worked fine, but I was surprised it did. I positioned the rounds as far back in the mag as they would go, the odd one tried to creep forward but I never had one pop-out or misbehave. Took a deliberate/consistent closing of the bolt but I used them interchangeably.

Perfect, thanks everyone. Just have to find one in stock, and a PM has been sent for the sights, looks like a few on here. I cant wait to give it a test run.

weeman, in the bottom photo showing the muzzle end of your 125 barrel it's possible to see where the front sight base used to be. See part #31a in the diagram below. The front sight is in the parts link in post #4.

That's a different sight assembly is it not? Screw on vs dovetail front sight?

Yes, I cannot figure out why it shows screws, google search has a few with just a small dovetail sight, not with part #31a. Most have the shown sight. On my barrel you can see an outline where it looks like it had the larger 31a at one time but obviously the barrel does not have threaded holes.

Do you have a link for that breakdown? If the EE ones I've messaged about do not work out, Nordic marksman sells sights and references part numbers.

The parts shown in the image above are in the parts list below.

If it's no longer possible to source these parts new, a "parts" rifle may be an alternative for genuine Anschutz parts, but that's a long shot. Perhaps an aftermarket dovetail front sight can be made to work.

It may not be worth putting a lot of money into this particular rifle. It's a Flobert action Anschutz, the least expensive line Anschutz made available.

Yes I agree, this is probably why it was abandoned. The magazine alone at $90 plus tax and shipping. Part# 1420-U5 I believe? Prophet has it.

Found a site state side that has #28 and 28c but it states its for model 184, which sounds like it's a 1400. Can anyone confirm that?

You can mod Savage mk2 mags for Anschutz. With filing some tabs off, and filing a new mag catch notch.

Actually remind me, I got a savage mk2 out for delivery and I got a Anschutz mag I can take photos of the difference.

The 184 refers to the Savage Anschutz 184. (Savage, like CIL, imported certain Anschutz models and each put unique model names on them). The 184 is a Flobert action Anschutz. Many of the less expensive models had some parts in common.

If the part you found is in the US, it may not be possible to get it shipped here legally.

I might try to find something aftermarket. What would be the size of the front dovetail? I'm getting .243" at the top and bout .305" at the bottom. Guessing it should be metric. So would that be 6mm? Most stuff I see is 3/8"
