In reality, it's a basket-case CIL 402, functional but with a rusty barrel and receiver, sans the stock.

Thought it would make an interesting project with the result being my dedicated loaner gun...

Modelled the stock after an 870 trap gun I already have, with the comb shaved down. Used laminated Birch to construct, overall a quick project. Thank God for Google image search, had no idea what an actual CIL 402/ Remington 812 stock actually looked like, around the receiver area....

Still need to do the final shaping, finish sanding and BLO finish. Rubber pad started life on a Browning Auto 5. Will test-shoot to see point of impact and adjust stock comb as needed before continuing any more work. Will get around to rebluing with cold blue, soon.

All done, stock dyed to somewhat match the existing forend, metal buffed to get rid of rust and reblued with cold blue.

That came out looking pretty good. Those old CBC shotguns are great for project guns, they are simple, rugged, and a person can modify them without any purist's outcry.

I see yours has the grooved forearm same as the 12 ga one I bought in '68 (and still use). To me that style feels much better than the usual beavertail type.
