Just wondering if any CGN's have this neat little .22, they don't seem to be very common, on the reciever it has the following - Model 125 -CIL , J.G. Anschutz ,GmbH, Waffenfabrik, Ulm,West Germany,i think it was marketed by Canadian Industries Ltd, before been taken over by IVI,this rifle can use a 5 or 10 rd magazine. I bought this .22 in 1971 in a hardware store in Stettler,Alberta for $42.00, i was 16 yrs old. Just curious if any one else has the same .22. Thanks

I have, and still use, a C-I-L model 111. It is a "startergrade" single shot with a half moon extractor and cocks on closing. I received it for my 12th birthday in 1965 and I remember it sold for $17.75, the Cooey single went for $17.25 at the same hardware store. I don't imagine Anschutz made a more basic bolt rifle than this model but it being my first real rifle its one to keep.
Regards, Waba

I have three of the little CIL 125s. Bought the first one years ago for $50 and spent $55 for the clip. Not complaining, it is a great shooting rifle. Still use it for rimfire silhouettes.

I bought my first .22, also a CIL Anschutz single shot in New Hamburg Ont. in 1968 for about $17.00. I had saved my pennies to buy a Cooey single shot from the local hardware store but my friend RB knew a place that sold the CIL for about a buck cheaper. A bought the CIL with the added benefit of being able to afford two boxes of .22 shorts. Ten years later I saw another one in Lethbridge AB in very poor condition with a price tag of $130.00!!! Eventually I rescued the gun from my brother, and put a peep sight on it. Most of my buddies said I was wasting my money putting a peep sight on a cheap single shot. But guess what? It outshot anything they had. It still gets used on the occassional gopher, altho my Anschutz 1422 with Leopold 6x AO is my favourite gopher gun. Cheers

The 125 was an attempt at an affordable .22, but although they would outshoot almost any other cheap .22 on the market, they were not as cheap as they could be, after all they still came with stuff like top quality barrels and fully adjustable triggers!!

I owned one for a bit, mainly because I glomm onto anything "C.I.L." and although it was a good shooter, it could not keep up to my 180's aot my 310.

great l;ittle rifles , however......

I picked up a 310 last weekend. Nice smooth little gun. Was looking for info on another gun site and some other Canadian posted this flyer regarding CIL .22s, thought you might be interested:

Guys on the other site were saying the 125s & 167s are based on a cheaper action than the 180s, 190s & 310s.

Apparently you can tell the difference in the origins by looking at where the bolt lines up with the trigger & trigger guard (further forward for the 125 & 167). According to them, those last three were based on an Anschutz model 64 action. Still trying to verify that though... who knows what to believe when you hear it on the internet, eh??

Yes, the 310, 180 and 190S are 64 actions.
One look at the 125 bolt tail piece will teell you that it is not a 64 but a different action, although I think it still had twin ejectors.

The tail piece on the 125 is slightly tapered, and the bolt handle is slightly smaller that the 64 action.
That photo, BTW is an older one.
The 190 stock was changed slightly towards the end of production , and had a grip that was vitually 90 degrees, you can see from the picture that the original 190 had a more sloping grip.
I find the original grip a little bit harder to hang onto sometimes, myself.

I have a 125, picked it up at a gun auction about 10 years ago for $40 or so, complete. The stock needs refinishing, however. The only problem I have is that the little cocking button sometimes wiggles itself loose. I'll maybe have to try loctite or something before I lose it. But the trigger is beautiful, and it's my most accurate gopher gun. I've got a full-size scope mounted on it - what a difference over the cheapo rimfire jobs. They are sweethearts.

Hey
I picked up a model 125 for my 9 year old. Its the most accurate 22 I have ever shot. It presently has a 4x scope on it but will be getting something finer soon. An excellent starter rifle.

And, no, I'am not trotting out the 180s for everyone to see.
