So my in-laws recently inherited a number of firearms from an estate. Among them are 3 older Browning Citori over unders (2 of which come with a single barrel as well), a Browning BT-99, an Ithaca Model 37 Ducks Unlimited 12ga, a Remington 742, a Lakefield Mk II Repeater and this CIL Model 111.

I have been tasked with re-homing the rifles but I am honestly considering keeping this one for myself. From what I can gather it is an entry level rifle and was built by Anschutz using an Flobert I action. Based on the proof mark I am assuming it was manufactured in 1964. For 53 years old it is in remarkable condition. It has some scratches on the wood and a few minor nicks on the barrel. Bluing is 99% and the bore is shiny and unpitted with nice, sharp rifling. From what I can gather it is worth around $100 if I try to sell it. What do you think? Is this one worth keeping?

That looks to be in amazing shape. I have one of the old Anschutz made CIL's - the 125. Same stock and barrel, similar action, only as a mag fed repeater.

Very accurate rifles. Not the smoothest bolt in the world, but workable.

To be honest, I think they're worth more as shooters than what you can get for them if you sold them. They aren't particularly collectible, and generally under appreciated. Good rifles to teach the basics to the next generation with.

I sold one (the 121 model, looks pretty much the same) in similar condition a few years ago on the EE. I think it went for around 125 at that time. It was a nice shooter. Definitely worth keeping if you can use it with the iron sights. The bolt will not get along with a scope.

The CIL Anschutz 111 was the CIL version of the Anschutz Model 1361. It has the Flobert I action. The stock is beech. It's in very nice condition and will last a long time. I think $100 is too low an asking price, if you are considering selling.

I'm thinking if that rifle was mine I would be leaning to keeping it as well, really nice shape and all. I certainly would not part with it for only a $100.00 in my opinion.

Cripes, Cooey lost bolt replacemints arrr heading for a brown one now a days.
Keep'r.
A hundred bucks would be a steal if that's what yer gitt'er for.

I bought the identical rifle on the EE about 6 years ago but it did not say CIL on it anywhere, just Anschutz. Bought it for my stepson to learn to shoot, he was 9 at the time. Kind of a cumbersome little rifle for a kid to learn to shoot on due to the extractor system and stiff workings of the bolt. I paid $125 for it and was glad to get my $$ back on it a year later when I moved him up to an SR 22.

Looks like a keeper to me. I have one and it is a dandy little plinker. They kick the brass out straight up in the air so that when you get "in the groove" you can catch the brass in midair as it falls back down. If you sell it, the hundred bucks will be gone in no time. If you keep it, the fun lasts for years and you can gift it or pass it on someday.

Check that the extractor isn't loose to the point it will fall out if the rifle is inverted. That one looks to have seen little use but have had to manufacture a couple for old club guns - not hard to do if you can access the chamber section of an old single shot barrel.
