I really know nothing about Browning Citoris, other than I tried a hunter model several years ago and it fit me perfectly. I've seen a few different models since, and don't know the difference in them.
Some are marked special steel. Are these older models?
Are they all safe for steel shot?

Thanks

Have you been to the Browning web page yet?

They have a bunch of information about shooting steel shot in their manufactured shot guns.

Just because one reads recommendations from this forum does t mean it is the gospel and one should go ahead or does one do a little more research?

While we strive to offer good sound information here there is still the due diligence for ones own person safety and education.
Check out Browning.com and do a little reading first or second or not, your call.

I have had several "Special Steel" Citori's that have been post 2000 production and all are rated for steel shot... check the date of manufacture and send an email to Browning with the serial number for confrmation.

The bottom gun is a Citori Special Steel Mossy Oak;

crunch68 as mentioned for a few dollars more you can buy a newer Citori with chokes already factored into the new steel manufacturing process and you will not have to be concerned about how will this shot react in my gun.

Btw, you can not go wrong with a Citori be it for upland only or a newer one for water fowl
