Can someone here reference me to a good source of information on The Colt AR's that were directed at the civilian market versus the military and law enforcement markets. I realize most came out of these fields. But looking for more info on models like the Sporter model. Thanks in advance for any help.

when I purchased my gun a colt sp1 back in the 80,s that was much of what was around for sale. my gun has some rough edges on it so I am thinking it may have been left over parts from a military run. she may be rough but it is a dream to shoot. at 100 yards it is easy to hit a 8 inch plate with my leapers scope on it. the leaper scopes were cheap but well made.

Through the 60's and 70's it was basically just the SP1 rifle and later carbine.
Furniture and parts used changed as years went on as the sporter models were often built with leftover parts from military contracts. That's why slab-side uppers and lowers were so common.
Into the 80's they started offering HBAR variants and a little more variety.

I realize a lot were assembled from left over obsolete military pieces & I've owned a SP1 in the past & wish I never sold it. But trying to find info on the HBAR Match, Competition models & to a lesser extent the Delta models and variants I haven't mentioned is what I'm trying to find info on. Dates of manufacture, proper hardware and numbers of production. Late 70's to early 90's seems to be a bit of a mystery?..

Black Rifle II has all the different models listed.
