Just curious but why exactly is it restricted AFAIK it meets the governments classification off a unrestricted firearm since it's barrel is longer then 18.5" and the overall length is more then 26" my best guess is that it's a assault rifle or?...
 
an assault rifle by definition is full auto. No one new can buy one of those in Canada unless you are a gangster/drug dealer/criminal.

It is restricted because it is an AR-15 variant and those are specifically named as restricted regardless of barrel length.
 
The MR762 was only introduced, Stateside, at the 2009 SHOT Show. HK has delayed production too. If they ever make it up here, I'd bet it'll be instantly declared prohibited. Just like other HK's.

The MR308 is HERE, and restricted, not prohibited.
