Clamp on bi-pod on free floating mosin barrel ok?

I wouldn't on a mosin barrel. they are thin to start with and easily influenced by pressure. In fact the finns used to bed the barrels about halfway up the forestock to improve accuracy.

get a sling swivel stud and mount it to the underside of the gun like 2.5 inchs from where it starts to thin out into that thick chunky wood. I just got some studs today and going to do this to my beater mosin because i can. I want a bipod on my mosin, looked at the clamp ons and decided NAYYYYYYY.... i saw a vid on You Tube of a guy doing this with the swivel stud and bipod. He said he had it at the range and held great, I think that is the best option, unless you're a purist hahahaahah . Mosin's didnt come with sling swivels. hahahaha If i ever get a nicer one i'll keep er stock and put pics up when i can

Hmm interesting. Never heard of bedding the barrels. It actually make a diff? Just bedded and pillared my action and floated the barrel but if it makes a difference.....

If done correctly bedding the barrel can help. I think the figure is 6# upward pressure. Ask user smellie, he has a lot of experience with this subject.

POI will be moved up. Bipods do not go on barrels.

What's that you say

Those are machine guns. They are designed to disperse rounds within a "beaten zone". That is a lack of precision is a design feature, it makes them more effective.
