We are hosting our next Classic Battle Rifle Match on Oct 7 at Chilliwack Fish and Game Protective Association.

This match is open to any military issue rifle 6.5 mm or larger, iron sights only. Last match we had 10 SKS, 2 M-14, 1 M-1 Garand, 1 M1-Carbine, 1 VZ, and five bolt action rifles. I took third place with a Lee Enfield. This match works well for bolt and semi-auto rifles. You don't need any webbing for this match either.

This next match will have six stages out to 200 yard. You will use the following shooting positions: standing, kneeling, prone, sitting and bench. Email at robertpaddon@Hotmail.com and I will forward you the match instructions.

Fee have been dropped to $20 for Chilliwack members, $30 for all others.

We have space for 40 shooter.

Here are a few I took . It was a really fun shoot. My first time handling an SKS really and I have to say I think I'm hooked. Couldn't figure out the atttraction to them before this. Turns out they are just plain fun to shoot and the one my good friend " Edgy " leant me for the day was pretty damned accurate for what it is ... a term I've heard applied to these old relics quite often.

If you ever get a chance do yourself a favour a get out and either participate in / or organize your own club Battle Rifle Match. Just a great way to spend a day at the range.

I took these pics in hopes of highlighting the amount of thought , time and effort that our match director Rob Paddon puts into these shoots. He is out there the evening before with whoever he gets as a volunteer help which I've learned in this case was Rob, Stew. Sean who is on a winning streak these days with IDPA shoots won the match. It is really inspiring to us newbies to see the good shooters out leading by example and putting in the hard work . So thanks guys ! I look forward to the next event and will be in for set up too !

19 shooters came out and played. 3 bolt guns and 16 semi-auto (mainly SKS). It was fun watching Vince shoot his Swiss K31 straight pull bolt action gun. Thanks to Rob and Stew for helping me with the prep for the match.
