Hey guys looking for your feedback on two topics:

1... Bullet weight 124/147gr. Your experience and why?
2... Minor vs Major
3... 9mm vs 40

It's all in the training.

The more you shoot the better you get.
Don't read into anything else of this shooter does that, this does this etc... All the top shooters shoot 50,000rounds a year and are sponsored by manufacturers to use their guns ammo...

if your competitive and can afford 400+rounds a week of 40 then go for it!

Based on that point 9mm is far cheaper to load for most can shoot 50-100% more than a 40/45.
Brass is free at pickups, amd 9mm componants are everywhere.

Based on bullet weights, you always want a heavy bullet with a hot powder to reduce the felt recoil.

It is VERY rare where it would be an advantage to shoot minor in classic (because of the high round capacity allowed when shooting minor). This would only happen if stages were set up where the 8+1 capacity would result in you reloading more than the 10+1 for minor. Since matches usually follow the 8 shots per shooting position rule for any high level match, you are not going to see it often.

If you are talking Standard, then you would be putting yourself at a disadvantage shooting minor compared to major shooting competitors UNLESS all you shoot are A's. A's are scored the same between major and minor but C's and D's take a bigger scoring loss when shooting minor compared to major.

As far as your other questions go: in 9mm most people prefer 147's as the perceived recoil is usually more controllable but the different is very small.

For 9mm vs 40: are you talking in general or for shooting production or standard?

If you are just starting out and getting comfortable with the sport, shoot what you own and then go from there once the bug hits you.

... snip ... Since matches usually follow the 8 shots per shooting position rule for any high level match... snip ...

The rule is "must not require more than 9 scoring hits from any single location or view".

However I agree with you that major is preferential over minor... but then again, I've been beaten at the Worlds by a few guys shooting minor: so it's not like this is completely cut and dried.
