Classic hunting photos

Alright Kristian, you asked for it!
This first one is a friend's Grampa, not sure when but the 25-36 marlin was built in 1904 IIRC. It lives in my safe!;)

This is 'The Colonel' a Gent that hunted the dark continent as well as here.
My Gramma worked for him back in the Hungry 30's, must have taken the pics then. Hey Kristian, check out his rifle, I am only guessing but it looks like a genuine Mauser.:)

Here is my Gramma's brother Leif, he put food on the table for their large family and sold the pelt to help out too. He was rumored to be quite the shot.

Here is my Gramma getting a close look at a bruin when she work as a cook at an oil rig in Jasper park back in the early 40's.

Sounds romantic but really the truth of the matter is there is more wildlife now than ever, we have a far better means to get to the wildlife and get our game out of the bush and home, better methods of saving the meat for consumption and better equipment to do all the above.
 
My grandfather has old 8mm film of his contraption for getting the deer out of the bush in the late 40's into the 50's. He used to hunt near Whitney Ontario south of Algonquin, about an hour drive from where I hunt know. I love talking to him about the area when he was a kid.

My wifes grandfather just passed away recently, boy did he always have good hunting stories! After the funeral I had a chance to go through some of his old hunting photos, they were great!

One weekend when we go to visit granny I will try and scan them all and post them for you guys to see.

Do it for sure! I had been holding off posting these pics here so I could get more of a story written up to go with them, there's not enough time in the day.
My wife is always saying I born a century too late.
I am sure Joe would agree for that himself so he could gather up every last 1895 as they came out of the factory. :)
