classifications question

I believe the RPD is a CFA, the Thompson M1 carbine depends on barrel length (if its an M1 carbine clone - if its an M1A1 Thompson its prohib) barrel length under 18.5 is restricted

All Thompsons (semi, C/A, FA) are deemed "prohibited", but whether or not an RPD is prohib depends on whether it's built with a new semi-only receiver (non-restricted), or a receiver that was once or is now a full-auto (prohibited).

SDC I think he's asking about the new M1 Carbine being sold under the Thompson name (now owned by Kahr). if that's the case it's dependant on the barrel length.

awsome

awsome but are you sure? cause the one i am looking at is a new reciever
semi auto reciever.

this doesnt work for AK varients does it? like an RPK?

Or say an HK G3 or 33 type rifle clone

Nope, the RPK is considered an "AK variant", while the G3/HK91 clones are likewise considered variants of prohibited firearms. Since the RPD isn't named as an Evil Baby-Killing Death Machine (tm), then a new semi-auto-only version would be considered the same as one of Marstar's semi-auto MG34s or M2/M1919 Brownings.

hoooraaaahhh

hooorahhhh sounds like a hell of a hunting rifle.
I am down to a choice between the RPD an m1 carbine or a XCR (ROBARM told me yesterday there first guns ship in 3 weeks).

oh yeah the barrel on a new M1 from thompson kahr is 18"
thats non restricted right?

Nope, 18 inch is restricted - 18.5 would be unrestricted - stupid huh? but all it takes is .5 of an inch to go from Joe Hunter to evil baby killer.

"...18.5 would be unrestricted..." It's 18.5" or less that's restricted. Not less than 18.5". Just as stupid though.
