Hi I have a brand spankin new Marlin 60 stainless and was wondering if any of you gents can recommend a very clean burning .22 lr round. I was using Remington golds, but they burn so dirty, I thought there was a chimney fire. ;)

Just want a very clean round that I can shoot all afternoon, without having to field strip my rimfire.

Thanks, Arch:)

You shouldn't have to strip the gun after an afternoon, but I hear MiniMags are pretty clean.

Yep, CCI ammo is incredibly clean burning. Remmington's are dirty. The Wildcats were the dirtiest I've come across so far.

The Federal bulk stuff and the CCI ammo I've shot were the cleanest lately... CCI Velocitors are pricey but nice stuff.

Rem is so dirty and so is the Winchester stuff for last few years. That I've pretty much sworn off using them unless the gun really doesn't like the others. So far its not been a problem.

IMI/CIL used to be great, buts not out there anymore.

I agree for the most part with what has already been stated. Indeed, any of the Remington stuff was really bad. I use Wildcats in my AA Glock conversion and it gobbles them up nicely, but they are also a bit mucky. I havnt seen any as bad as the Remington though unless we go back a few years to the days of Ruko...
Cheers
dB:)
