cleanest powders?

In general, powders burn the cleanest when at max pressure for a given velocity. It also serves to minimize the total amount of powder used.

Other than the VV powders, Clays is a very fast powder and burns cleanly. In your case would be usable only in 45 for moderate loads.

You also haven't mentioned if you are using a comp with 9mm Major. If so, you will need a slightly slower powder so the pressure is maintained further out along the barrel for the comp to be more effective.

Haven't tried VV N320, but I hear good things. Of the powders I have tried, Power Pistol was the cleanest. Although, in low light the muzzle flash it produces is blinding.

Clay

Hi there,

I shoot two 1911 in 45ACP and I just purchase some Hodgdon Clay powder to try out :dancingbanana: .

Hodgdon says it is the cleanest burning , most consistent powder available today :runaway: .

I do not know if this claim is true but I will try it out in +/- 30 days (waiting for my order to come in - I am out of bullet  ) and I will let you know.

Ducktape :D
