If you take it out of the stock the zero may change anyway. I just use a weed wacker line also. I found that if I flatten the part that I want to slit slightly with a hammer, makes it easyer to cut right. I run winchester power point exclusively through mine. I had to de burr the bolt when I got it, they left some nasty things on it, especialy for riding over aluminum.

For my 10-22, which happens to have a .920 straight barrel, I made a rod guide which snugly fits over the muzzle and has a hole just under the bore size. I learned this from experience with shooting black powder competition.
With muzzle loaders you have only one option... the muzzle.
Works great.
