how do you clean a non-takedown 97 pump shotgun? i have never stripped mine, but have taken oil and brushes to it from all angles. figure there had to be farmers back in the day that didn't even do that, without failures to fire. any input would be greatly appreciated.

edit-i have a army back ground so it bothers me i cant strip, clean&assemble my shot gun like i would a basic military weapon.

The one good thing about that design is that when you pump it back, the gun basically turns itself inside out. It'll be clean enough, what you're doing.

In the contents there a link to the pages on Winchester '97 takedown. It does not fully detail the breech block takedown, but it does good enough to allow you to clean it. Once you've done it a couple times, it gets a LOT easier. One army guy to another, it's a ##### and a half, but it feels great when you're done.
