I have the stock off a boxlock SxS and I would like to clean the receiver (the receiver is blued). I am hoping that someone can comment on the proper way to clean it without harming anything. My initial thoughts are to clean it in mineral spirits, blow it out with a compressor, spray it down with G96 and then blow with compressor again. Thanks in advance.

Additional information: There is some old grease that has hardened around the cocking cams, cocking levers, sears, etc. that i have not been able to get out with a pick.

You don't need to spray it down with anything. G96 on a rag wiped over the metal surface is plenty. If you spray oil on liberally it will get to places that you can't wipe it from and eventually that will cause it to soak into the wood which is no bueno.

My father's main waterfowling gun for many years was a Winchester Model 21. To my knowledge the stock has never been of it. And we're talking about old-time pit hunting in Saskatchewan and along the coast in BC's Lower Mainland (Pitt Meadows and such).

PS, sorry Polaris nailed the coffin shut on your Victory. I think they made a huge mistake putting all their eggs in the Indian basket.
