Cleaning a brand new Wingmaster

With a new gun, prior to first time use, it is always a good practice to perform a simple basic cleaning/inspection.....depending on the firearm obviously - ensure bbl/receiver/action/trigger assembly etc are cleaned of preservative, grease etc....then lightly relube appropriate parts.

Best to pay close attention to assembly/disassembly procedures in the Manual should you decide to take the gun apart.....just take your time to do it. Your firearm will like you for it and you in turn will love your firearm :)

Forgot to add :) ....please ensure that excess gun oil is always carefully wiped off the firearm (read during relube process - both internal/external) so as to prevent the oil from seeping into the wood.

BTW, congrats!

I just went through the same process with my new shotgun. If you search on youtube, there are some pretty good videos on field strip & reassembly of the 870. I was surprised how easy it was.

Not a good thing for a relatively inexperienced (!?) person to play with...I refer to the inference of dissambling the trigger group. Take it down into major components as shown in manual. Unless repairing/replacing parts, don't take out the little thingies, they ALL run away and hide.

X2. It's not always a good thing for an experienced person to disassemble the trigger group. Thank goodness for Kuhnhausen and those extendable Princess Auto magnets. ;)

Clean the bore and action of any preservative still on the gun and then take it shooting.
