Cleaning A Norinco JW15A

Finally got around to stripping my "hiker" down and cleaned up all the grease off the metal.
Now, how do I get it off the plastic stock - the damn goop is everywhere, in the checkering, all over. I don't want to use brake fluid or anything that might melt the plastic.
Any ideas on what to use?

I use Loctite ODC-Free Cleaner and Degreaser. Some from work accidently fell into my lunch can. It should be available from most industrial supply companies. Spray it on a rag and wipe everything down good. An old toothbrush works great around the checkering. BTW this stuff is safe to use on anything. Hope this helps.

Warm water and dish soap in a laundry sink would likely work just fine. Use a brush for stubborn deposits.
