So what do you guys recommend when cleaning and lubricating your Swissarms series of rifles? I examined the lubricant supplied with the cleaning kit and it seems to be very think and gunky, good for lubrication, but does it provide any corrosion protection? Could I use a thin coat of CLP on the bolt and carrier combined with the factory supplied lubricant and should I remove the black SIG substance from the receiver's internals?

Ive never had a problem with the regular grease, it doesnt fall off where you put it so those places cannot rust, and for the most part a SIG is made of high quality alloys that dont easily rust. The swiss wouldnt give you it if it dint work.

The grease isn't bad, the important thing is to use just a little of it otherwise it smokes like hell after the first couple rounds fired.

Make sure you clean the gas piston, gas tube and the valve. If you don't clean the gas tube at all, then it will eventually rust. This is without consequences for the reliability or accuracy but it looks ugly.

Also don't use the grease and something else like CLP or whatever at the same time.

Do I just scrub the gas tube dry? I'm guessing if I used CLP I'd have to remove it completely from the gas tube after cleaning.

You also recommend using a small portion of the grease in the weapon to prevent excess smoke, what parts require the grease?

removing the CLP before applying grease is a good idea.

I normally use grease on following parts: barrel (just a wee bit), gas tube, piston and valve, the bolt itself doesn't require too much grease, just a bit where the bolt head (?) has contact with the bolt carrier.

The gas system gets very dirty very fast...I clean mine everytime I shoot her to ensure no build up etc...G37 and an old toothbrush seems to take the deposits off fine. I use a tiny amount of Sig oil on the bolt area and that seems to work great for me.
