MPRO Black Powder and Corrosive Ammunition Cleaner
MPRO Black Powder and Corrosive Ammunition Cleaner does the trick for my toys, followed by regular bore cleaner (hoppes, regular mpro7 etc...) and then finally some good oil. Or you could just use hot soapy water down the barrel and bolt face. (Don't submerge you gun mind you...) Hope that helps. Windex has ammonia in it so it will act as a good cleaner, but I'm not sure it will do a great job of neutralizing the corrosive salts from the primers... Just my two cents...

metal fouling
Once all the powder fouling is cleaned out you dont need any other powder cleaner like hoppes. You need to take out the metal bullet residue with an effective remover. Sweets is an effective copper remover , but could be harmful if left to long in the bore . None of the other copper cleaners have been very effective except the outers foul out electric rod and of course the most effective (as it takes out any bullet residue regardless of metal composition) - J.B BORE PASTE.

You need a water based solvent to disolve the residual salts from the priming compound.In fact, the best one available is just plain water.Hot soapy water works best. One tried and true method is simply to insert the muzzle in a pail of water and then use a tight patch on the rod to serve as a piston to draw water up and down the bore.Dry the bore afterwards and then oil.And be sure to swab the chamber and bolt face as well.
It has nothing to do with water. Cor primers last longer and are more reliable. That is why Russia still uses them.

You might want to try finding a Canadian Armourer's funnel. It's made for the purpose. Also works on most other rifles using milsurp ammo.

You dont need to go through the hassle of boiling water - soap and water is all you need - windex is soap and water with a dessicant so you dont get the flash rust that you get with water (hot or cold).
Boiling water is UNNECESSARY work.
Dont use break free in the bore - use KROIL. I dont like teflon in bores - makes the bullets slip.
