is it me or are slugs notoriously filthy to shoot? ive been out twice, first time i only put about 15 through, barrel was real dirty. last time i put about 60 through it and it was a disaster. must have run about 40 patches through it, soaked it in hot soapy water for a half hour, scrubbed it, etc, it was just throwing out dirty patch after dirty patch. i was using some crudcutter spray stuff from crappy tire, #### that stinks. luckily im all out now and i bought some new stuff, i wanna say something like clp9 or something along those lines. used it on my r700 and not sure i like the oil and cleaner in one properties it has but it may work better than the last stuff.

What you need is one of these. It's called a Tornado Brush

power drill sounds like a good idea, i could mounted my short cleaning rod to the chuck throw on a big copper brush spray some clp in there and give her a go. thanks for the tips ill let you know how it works out next time i clean it

I use gel bore cleaner and let it sit for hours, this cuts the elbow grease down to a few passes with a brush and maybe 3 patches for a squeaky clean.

any updates uchi on a solution to cleaning your barrel? i took out my shotty last week and put 30 slugs/00 buck, and its filthy, patch after patch and its still filthy.

I can put 200 rounds of slugs through my M4 and the barrel is sparkling after just a couple patches, solvent and a quick brush. Three minute job to clean a Benelli barrel.

Not so lucky with My Nova. Put ten slugs, and 2 boxes of Skeet through mine last weekend, and It took quite a few patches.

"...soaked it in hot soapy water..." That won't help with smokeless powder. Use regular solvent and leave longer than 30 minutes.

You can clean a smooth bore shotgun barrel? Lol. I will clean mine eventually but, I have at least 400 rounds of birdshot, 50 rounds 00 Buck, and 100 rounds rifled slugs through my 870 Marine Magnum and I can still hit a 12 inch plate at 100 meters. Don't see the point in cleaning a cylinder bore very often. I have better ways to spend my time. Like cleaning all the rifled firearms I have. lol.

You clean your shotgun?

That was my thought...

I have a Lakefield pump that has had 2 generations in my family use VERY regularly. I think NASA would have to be enlisted to calculate the round count, and I don't think it's ever seen more than an occasional exterior wipe with oil.

All the power to ya. I enjoy my scatterguns because I CAN shoot them without cleaning.
