I have an old canvas sling that was attached to my 1903 and I decided to clean it. It's dirty in all manners of the word - rust stain, ground in dirt, stiff as a board. I took my handheld steamer and brush to it, which knocked off a lot of the exterior grit, but as it's drying now I can see there is still a lot of stuff left.
How do you guys clean your canvas kit? I was thinking of throwing it in the wash but I don't like the idea of the metal ends banging around in there. They're riveted in place and not coming off. Soapy water and a toothbrush might work if I let it soak for a while, but I'm curious if any of you have better ideas
