Like my post that came back with an answer for the world's smallest centrefire cartridge, I have more Qs for the cartridge collectors.

The pieces that I'm finding have dust, sawdust, dirt, case lube, and grime on them. The patina is genuine, but who's interested in a rough piece? Is there an accepted cleaning method? Wipe with hot water? Wipe with alcohol? Wipe with a petroleum solvent? Am I trying too hard to pretty things up only to lose that essence of original condition the collectors seek?

What I've found is a broad assortment that someone would take to add to an established collection. Not sure yet if I'll find one of every factory that made .303BR or all the variations of .32-20, etc, but I don't want to get aggressive and reduce the resale value.

Don't clean them. It doesn't help the value or collectability.
