Cleaning Cosmoline from French Tickler

Hey guys. Just purchased a French Tickler a month ago. It's been sitting in the box. It's covered in cosmoline. I need some advise on the best way to clean it. I've watched a few videos online but would love some input from people here. I'm in the GTA.

Thank you for the reply. I have Ballistol. I use it to clean my shotgun and 22. I'll try this. Might give it a boiling hot water bath first. I've read that's effective as well.
 
I’ve used a heat gun for metal parts and the barreled action nooks and crannies and many rolls of paper towels. When the grease gets warm and goes liquid, it’s not too hard to wipe off. Q tips can get into the small places.

Oh how I miss the days of blocking off an entire Saturday afternoon with a newly arrived milsurp soaked in grease, classic rock on random play and a 4 pack of Old Speckled Hen…
 
If you do the boiling water thing add a little dish soap. like Dawn ultra. it rips grease off dishes. make sure that you clean out the gas system
really good. too. you don't want any oil or grease in there. collects powder residue . - carbon build up will happen faster. and dry the crap out of it with a hair dryer. don't do it in the kitchen sink either. outside where your neighbor's can't see you or the wash basin and then do a load of laundry after to flush the system out. make sure you don't put grease down your drain . then a light coating of oil on the outside of everything. except the gas pistons.

I used hoppes9 after putting all metal parts on a pan in the oven at 175deg, and cleaned up very well.
Most the cos melted onto the pan.
Maybe check w the wife on which pan to use.
I'm still catching s hit lol
