Cleaning CZ 455

I recently bought a CZ 455 in .22 calibre. It's a very accurate rifle and I'm very pleased with it. One question I have for anyone who can help is, how do you clean the bore? I like to use a cleaning rod from the breech end but with this rifle I find it a bit awkward because of the way the bolt release works. I also have an Otis pull-through cable which works well but is a bit cumbersome to use and I really prefer to use a cleaning rod.
Any suggestions or recommendations would be very helpful.

Pick up a bore guide. It will slide into the action, and keep the bolt release out of the way. It also helps keep solvent and gunk out of your action. I use one on all my 452's and 455's. If you don't have a yodave trigger kit yet get one, and pickup a bore guide from him while you're at it.

Another tidbit...the 452/5's have a rather tight bore. Most find that using a .17 cleaning rod to be much easier than a .22. I count myself in that group.

These CZ's don't really need to be cleaned that frequently. Certainly do a through clean when new, but after that, I only clean when accuracy drops off, which is rather infrequently.

Believe it or not for best accuracy, don't clean a 22LR barrel. Done several tests. Always takes a while for accuracy to come back after barrel cleaning. If you are happy with 2 inch groups at 50 yds, no need to bother but if you are after 1/2 inch groups. Don't clean the barrel. Once you find the ammo that works best, try and use only that ammo. Switching ammo every mag full isn't condusive to accuracy either. Takes about 50 rounds of 1 kind of ammo to lead up the barrel so that you can see real results. Keep trying until you find the ammo that works best in your rifle.

+1 on this. as long as you are sending wax lube bullets down the pipe, leave the barrel alone. clean the action and bolt, lube and shoot. I have half a dozen rimfire firearms that get used regularly and i clean the barrels once a year, and some of them probably don't need that. it really depends on the quality/finish inside the barrel.the only time I clean is if the accuracy comes off a bit, and I have a couple of rifles that are very respectable shooters. I have put as much as 5000 rounds or more downrange and not run a rod down the barrel. I too have the otis kit, be very careful when pulling from the muzzle to the breech as it is possible to damage the crown, going from breech to muzzle is not a good idea, you can watch the cable deflect as it is pulled out of line with the crown.
 
Where did you guys get adapters to fit your .22 jag on a .20 or .17 rod?

I have a 455 FS on order, and already picked up a Tipton carbon .22 rod, but now I'm worried that it won't fit. :(

I can still return it, but I don't want to spend $15 on shipping to get a $2 adapter from the USA if I can avoid it...
