So I'm cleaning and "fixing up" a Marlin 70HC semi-auto .22 for a friend. The previous owner had broken the stock on it and hadn't really taken good care of the thing. It is super dirty. So I told my friend that I would take a look at it. I bought a synthetic stock for it and it just arrived. And it just so happens that today I'm at home with a neck with torn neck muscles. Can I just pour boiling water in the parts that I can't get at with my normal tools? I know I've done this to clean my muzzleloader and it works great. I'm just curious if I can do it on this semi auto. I don't think there are any plastic parts that will be touched. Thanks a lot.
