I overheard a discussion regarding household solvents and lubricants that fill in nicely for muzzle loader specific compounds that are found at LGS. I was just wondering if anyone here uses different home remedies to clean their guns?

Eds red and mobil 1 oil

And red n tacky grease

Pretty much the only gun care products youll ever need.

Outside of precision barrels and wooden stocks

I like Ballistol because it's non corrosive and won't harm wood or plastics

Windshield washer fluid for B.P. cleanup. Cant get much cheaper than that.

x2, that's all I ever use... never a problem. And ohhh so simple.

BP cartridges, I drop em in windshield washer at the range, rinse em at home.

I use this on my BPCR patches for cleaning at the range, followed by Ballistol. Haven't tried windshield cleaner on my brass, but I'll give it a go.

Just don't leave them in the stuff for too long, do rinse them as soon as you get home. I've ended up with some interesting science experiments after leaving brass in it overnight.
