I've got a Chinese sks. It has a 17" cleaning rod but it still seems short. It won't pass all the way through the breech from the muzzle end even with one of the cleaning kit implements on it. Normal? And another thing, cleaning kit parts don't seem to have the same thread as the cleaning rod. What gives?

All the parts in the kit fit on the rod of my SKS just fine, but ya, the rod is too short- which is why I don't use it, I just leave it under the barrel.
its normal, its does the job for me.
thats bcos the kit didnt come with the rifle . there are two different threads , early and late ... early threads are russian and chinese SKS ..... late are yugo and norinco SKS .
