cleaning solution and case lube question

I used dawn dish detergent and a 45acp case full of lemishine to clean my brass. As far as case lube goes I make my own with pure lanolin and 99% alcohol. If you cant find alcohol due to the plandemic, you can purchase ISO heat from canadian tire. I mix mine usually 12:1 or 11:1. This lube works for all my reloading needs except 50 BMG. I use imperial sizing wax or lee lube for this .
I use exactly the same mix with Lanolin and Alcohol.. works great

Alcohol 90%/lanolin 14:1. I lube both pistol and rifle cases. Sometimes I use Redding Imperial wax for expanders.

You can use Fluid Film if you can't find lanolin.

I switched from Dawn dish soap to Laundry detergent. I soak the cases overnight in hot water/soap/Lemishine. As a result, I tumble cases 1-1.5 hours.

Hmmmm... that is good idea.

I stopped using pins. Usually boiling water and dawn dish soap and 3h and they are cleaner then they need to be.

How much detergent are you using?

I eyeball it depending on number of cases. Usually 1-2 tablespoons of laundry detergent. I like Sunlight in powder form.

Sometimes, I'll omit SS pins or a smaller amount of SS pins.

Last time in my home made tumbler, I put about 1500 38/357 cases and my full amount of 10lbs of pins. I ran in for an hour since those cases don't end up on the ground.

I use Comet. Everyone has a little different way of doing things.

Thanks.

I had a good system going and have all the gadgets - pin separators, magnet, etc.
But eventually, I tried it without pins and was happy with results.

Now it's a much simpler process.

Cheers,

1) Wet Tumble range brass - No pins necessary, 1.5 hours with HOT water and dish soap. More soap is better. 1/8 teaspoon Lemishine. After Tumble, run brass through HOT water rinse to remove any residual acid (lemishine).
2) Dry on towel overnight or in the sun for a couple of hours
3) Lube - Spray bottle filled with Alcohol (ISO HEET from CT, liquid lanolin at 12:1 ratio), spray on tupperware full of brass and shake around
4) Resize/Deprime - 1 die to do both
5) Tumble again
6) Dry again
7) Load

I like to decap first with a Lee pin and small hammer.
Then dry tumble and blow dry (I have a compressor) to make sure nothing scratches the sizing die.
Lanolin/alcohol lube and size.
I use a commercial jar (pickles, whatever) with the Dawn/Lemishine slop to swirl, watch a movie, and swirl again.
Rinse, blow dry, load.
Fire, repeat.

Brass: I have a dry(corncob & walnut) and 2 wet tumblers. I prefer with the pins. Like clean primer pockets.
As for lube, I much prefer castor oil either straight, rubbed on by fingers for reforming, or mixed 10% solution with alcohol in a spay. Much like the lanolin method.
No stuck cases since I started with the castor oil. Available in pharmacies. Also use graphite if needed for inside rifle case mouths.
Much more critical when reforming brass to a different caliber/round.

thought id pop in and give a update.

my dad came up for a visit and we decided we would set everything up and clean all of the brass we have been accumulating over the last year.

it ended up my dad had picked up a little press at the gun show in Calgary last year and he picked up a Lee pack of shell holders so we decided we would dedicate that little press to be our de-priming press.

so we sat back and visited and de-primed a LOT of brass.

once de-primed we washed the brass in several loads with a squirt of Dawn and a spoonful of Lemi Shine

after trying to re tap and die it and that didnt work, went to the local hardware store but they didnt have any cutter bits in stock.
got ticked off.
