Cleaning the crud off after caustic blueing?

How do you clean the brown/reddish crud left over from caustic blueing off of a rifle? I've wiped most of it off with hoppes, but the nooks and crannies are becoming a pain in the neck. Thanks.

Boiling water immersed. Bamm clean

After boiling water, use some water displacing oil.

Did you blue it or someone else? The second it comes out of the bath it should have went into a hot water rinse tank, then into oil. Even after this you usually get some brown residue. Those blue shop paper towels and oil work best to rub it down with I found.
