Hey guys I have a hypothetical question. If all you had in a war time situation was an sks and corrosive ammo . How would you clean your sks properly so it didn't rust.

Clean all of the oil and grease off of the gun, to almost a dry condition, keep's the dirt from caking on rifles and pistols
Most SKS rifles have chrome barrels etc

LOL, a lot of interesting answers , but we will probably be dead by the time we need to clean them, HaHaHa

1.) Carry a small bottle of Hoppe's and a small bottle of gun oil.

2) Learn how to assemble and utilize the sks cleaning kit.

The vast majority of sks have chromed barrels. Bore rust will be the least of your concerns.

2 scenarios:

a) I have no access to water in the foreseeable future.
b) I have access to water in the foreseeable future.

In scenario a) you would die. Otherwise clean your rifle with water.

For me...
1- Boiling water then clean/lube like any other rifle.
2- At the range before coming home....windshield washer fluid in a spray bottle. (cuz I'm cheap)
Then when ya get home #1.
