Yup, bristle brush and warm water then let dry. I've actually seen blanco web dressing for sale on flea-bay. It was used thru WW2 on the P37 web. Post war we used a water based, rubber containing web dressing called Capo. It came in 2 colors-khaki/baby poo for the P37 web belt and OD green for the P51 web gear. We used to spend many hours on this. The P37 belt was polished and finished off with neutral shoe polish-a thing of beauty and a joy to behold!
I have a canvas sling on my SMLE that is covered in white blanco which makes adjusting the length very difficult. I have thought about removing it but no idea how to do it correctly without damaging the canvas. Any thoughts ?
"...some idiot came up with Blanco..." Used long before canvas was used for web gear. Used to make leather kit white, not for cleaning.
"...have a canvas sling..." Usually painted. Less fuss to buy a khaki/tan/green sling at a gun show.
