Cleaning your barrel - the 5 hour version

HAHAHA....
Great first post.
I'm a noob too, and I thought I was going to have to take my new rifle back to the gunshop for the same problem. Got it rectified myself, but I was sweatin'!

Maybe we need a "True Confessions" or "I can't believe I..." forum on CGN.
Confession is said to be good for the soul.

Too bad our much vaunted Canadain Firearms Safety Course, supposedly chock a block full of useful information, didn't spend a bit more time on such essentials as proper cleaning, rather than parroting "ACTS PROVE" ad naseum, or memorizing dis-information about the supposed benefits of "safe' storage.

Lots of us old guys had to learn it on our own, but with a mandatory course pass a pre-requisite for gun ownership today, is is a shame our newbs still get sooo much wrong.
