How do you clean the lube out of a die? I've never done it before and I'm concerned about having a build-up of lube in there and possibly abrasive particles.

Best regards,

If you're using the spray on lube, its basically just lanolin dissolved in alcohol.

I just spray some 99% alcohol into mine to rinse it out, but I do this just before sizing the last few cases in a batch. This leaves a slight coating of lube in the die for storage between uses. I actually rinse like this a time or two while sizing a batch of casings just to prevent build up of lanolin. This is fairly convenient and alcohol (isopropyl) is cheap as dirt.

Regular firearm solvent will work fine. If the lube is heavy, scrap out most of it with a carved popsicle stick then just clean it the same way you do a firearm.

You should clean the seating die every 200 or so times with a bit of Hoppes or such. Still if you have a compressore then you can blast it out if you have put enough cleaner in there.

Personally I have found I just need to dump the complete die in "Dunk It" for around an hour then hit it with a compressor & it will be as clean as a whistle.

Mind you "Dunk It" is only avaliable from Cylinder & Slide shop in the States, though you only need around a pint of it in a plastic container that often contained some form of food. This is for extreme cases while the bit of cleaning in it with the addition of tooth pick of something else is all that is needed if you do it every so often. Better still disamble the die in the first place.

I cought myself needing the extreme measures after something like over 10,000 rnds.

Opps you are referring to your "resizing" die so my error. How in the heck do you get such a filthy die for do you not tumble & have clean brass when starting to reload? I feel that is a must to the rest of your equipment as well.
