Clip Guide

Hallo.

I've removed the clip guide from the reciever on my M305/M14.

I need to slide another part in there which is a direct replacement (for scope mount). I managed to tap it in about 5mm then it starts getting beyond tight. I don't want to hammer my precious toy.

Any advice from those with experience?

I think it's a bit beyond grease/crc help.
 
Is the slot really, really, reallllly clean? Sometimes they have funky chinese gunk in the slot that hardens like steel.

I ended up having file down my scope mount a tiny bit to get it too fit into the gun.

There is a light oily substance, but nothing thick or gritty.

(I think I know the stuff you mean. My SKS came smothered in it!)

I'll wipe it down and have a thorough look. The gun is brand new so I don't want to be too rough if I don't have to.
 
Did you get the roll pin entirely out of the clip guide?

Another thing to consider is that the dove tail may be wider on one side than the other.

If the mount won't go fairly easily from one side, try going from the other.
