Clipless Savages

I was looking through the savage catalogue tonight and noticed alot of thier rifles are being produced without removeable clips.I prefer a clip magazine over the hinged floorplate or blind magazines.what are your opinions?Are they heading in the right direction?

I thought they'd always been that way. Most of their hunting rifles are offered in a detachable clip model now. The blind magazine is a bit of a PIA, especially if you're loading and unloading several times in a day.

The new 11 (or 111 for long action) series that have a removable magazine have moved the clip release button from the side of the stock to on the bottom of the stock just in front of the magazine. IMHO a move in the right direction.

my 116 has a blind mag. doesnt bother me at all. although with a mag cap of 2 its not a big deal to load or unload. i have a couple with detach mags also. happy with both, cant say i prefer one over the other

Correct me if I'm wrong, the blind mag is supposed to offer a stiffer action, which results in tighter groups for those target guys.
