Man...of all the ways I thought you could get an injury reloading, this wasn't one I thought of.

Happily cranking out some .223 for my AR. First time I got to go on a big run as I finally found a good load for it.

Only half way through, raised the ram on the charging die and SNAP!! something goes whipping past my face! WTF was that? I stared at my press dumfounded for a moment trying to figure out what just came rocketing off my press, narrowly missing me. Whatever it was sailed across my room and smashed into some boxes I had behind me. Get up to see if I can find whatever it was and find a spring lodged in one of the boxes. Pulled it out and it turns out to be the spring from the auto discs. The one that returns the discs to their starting position.

Couldn't believe it. Normally I sit right in front of the press but this time, I was slightly off to the side. Thank God too as if I was right in front of it, I would have caught in right in between the eyes. That woulda hurt like a summa#####.

Just yet another reminder to always wear safety glasses!

as soon as you said spring that was the first thing i thought of, glad your ok! on the newest auto disk measure i bought it seemed really stiff, so i went with the chain (used for the pro1k). did the spring break or bend or was it an eyelet that broke?

The spring broke, the hook part. Thankfully it was just the spring. Major drag though, I had ordered a bunch of bullets on Tuesday night to make sure they could be delivered by Friday and spend Saturday reloading. Only got 133 done :(

You can always do it manually. Or find another spring or bend that spring to make a new hook.
