Closed Canadian milsurp dealer......trying to remember the name

You wouldn't believe the ads from the '50s...

I would..... and cry alot :)

I have retained most of the catalogs I have received. Maybe I will scan the International/ Century Arms catalogs and make them available. I have them all from 1980 and a few before that.

Scotty, warm up the time machine........

Cheers!

Yes! In Edmonton,,,,sold some pretty cool stuff, lots of WW1 and 2 dewars as well. I heard something about one being converted back to live and that was that. Good memory!

Was there a dealer called Kearns and Mcmerchy?

Those of us of riper years can remember what was available long before the late '80s.
How about an unissued Long Branch sniper in the chest for $80?

That would be the late 60s but they say $80 in 1969 had the same buying power as about $550. today!

By the late 80s a matching rig in the chest would be about $7-800 usually.

Katick Supply in North Gower, ON was another one that had a flier with lots of cool Converted Auto stuff. They must have had a direct line to Israel. That was about 1980.

In the old days I would call International Firearms in Montreal and ask about a certain model pistol that was being advertised in their mail flier . I would ask for one with German Nazi markings and they would go through their stock and tell me if they had one or not.

If yes, I would buy it for less than 1/4 of todays prices and have it mailed to the local police department. I think that was mid 1970s.

In hind sight the prices from the late '50's and the '60's seem very low to us now but in 1966 I was making $1.20 an hour before taxes and trying to save up enough cash for next year's tuition and board! Anything beyond the $19.95 Enfield was simply out of reach. There have been a few others that came and went in the intervening years but the only one I really regret was a Mk II Ross with a connection to the local pre WW1 rifle association.

Peter has passed.

I believe he was selling a few things here on CGN as well under the name of "Wilke" ?

I bought one of those AR 10's listed on the bottom of the add. Still have it actually.

Mine came with new stocks and a new barrel.

Great rifle at a great price.

Wish I could shoot my AR-10 again!
Yeah - Peter was definitely THE " Go to guy for military "exotica "
Always thought it was cool that his shop was based out of "Swastika" ONT.
