Hi All, new here but really enjoying the community. I live in the GTA and am looking for a spot on crown land to do some target shooting. Are there any spots within driving distance (2-3 hours) from the GTA?

Will clean up after myself and be incredibly respectful. I know how precious these places are to those that use them. Would never do anything to compromise that.

Any tips would be immensely appreciated.

OP, no offense, but this is how many shooting spots get ruined / shut down.

No one is going to post on an open forum for the world to see. If they do, the amount of time it takes for it to get shut down will literally be a stopwatch. Think I'm lying, look at what happend to the Melancthon Tract of the Dufferin County Forest. Decent place to shoot targets and have fun, until word got out over a couple of online sources, then the citiots arrived, shot up TVs, and other assorted junk, left their garbage everywhere....and poof, bylaw enacted outlawing shooting.

Any Municipality can enact similar bylaw for Crown Land within it's borders ( see Algonquin Highlands, and permits for camping on Crown Land off Hwy 118).

You're better off to meet up with some shooters, and get to know them. Personally I won't take anyone I don't know shooting on my spots, because I'd like to keep using them.

The crown land use policy atlas is your friend. Find places in the yellow that look like old gravel pits etc.

This. Ain't no way we're listing our spots. Sorry not sorry.

Totally a newb questions, and I appreciate your honesty. Makes total sense and that is what I assumed... However, gotta start somewhere. Appreciate the atlas, will give that a study. Anyone want to take a newb under their wing I would also appreciate that!

You can DM me spots too lol!
