I'm trying to keep things cost effective, and while I understand that I need a membership in order to get a LTATT, I'm confused as to what constitutes as a suitable club/range. I know if I get a membership at Phoenix, I'll be good to go but the price is a bit steep. Can I join anybody/anywhere (SPFGA, CHAS, Spruce Grove, etc.) and get my LTATT? Are there any clubs that would not qualify?

Thanks for the confirmation. CHAS certainly has piqued my interest, if the website is any indication. The sponsor requirement is kinda tough, since I haven't been shooting that long and thus, haven't made that connection yet.

Not sure if they still do it, but when I first became a member at CHAS (a few years back) I just went and got it on a tuesday night at phoenix when they have their time slot. They signed it off for me so I didn't need a sponsor.

Edmonton shooter guild $35
Itll get you a long term,it did for me to phoenix and im in saskatoon

Edit: you get them at phoenix

celtic: Interesting that you were just able to show up. I think I'll fire a message to their membership committee and see if they'd still do that.

skoal: Thanks for the tip!

Tongarirohiker, please let us know of your finding. I am in the exact same boat as you. I am leaning toward CHAS as well as they have outdoor range and tuesday night use of Phoenix.
thanks simon

I haven't heard back from CHAS' membership committee yet, but I asked at Phoenix if they knew whether someone could just drop in on CHAS night and get signed up. They said that it's possible, but CHAS night is a busy affair. They limit people to 45 minutes at a time so everybody can get through, and you do just get one night a week.

If you can find yourself going to the range 18+ times at Phoenix, you've basically gotten your money's worth out of the membership when you consider that it includes two full day passes for guests, and it covers your Edmonton Shooters Guild membership. If you're going to go less than that, pay the $35 for the Shooters Guild at Phoenix and buy your guns.
