Just wondering if there are any clubs that retail shotgun ammo in one way or another? I know a lot of them do bulk orders for targets. Are there benefits to getting involved in handling ammunition as well?

Since we were 5.5 hrs drive when we used to place our target order the members would call the target makers(we dealt with Lawry) and do their own ammo purchases and have it sent up with the target shipment. They would ship the ammo free of charge. We would all order our ammo for the season. At the club I shoot at now the fellow who runs the club brings ammo out from his store and sells it for $5/case more than if you picked it up at his store.

I've been involved in clubs that sell ammo. Its doable to licence a few members to sell the ammo, and if you can get large discounts it may benefit members.

It was also argued its a PITA for the few members (read volunteers) that have less shooting time as they get interrupted to sell ammo, there is the requirement to track the inventory in and out as well as tax issues, accounting etc (read more volunteer time needed) and in the end if you want to go shooting, pack your gun and your ammo and take it to the club.

There is a dealer operating from a trailer on our club grounds who sells ammo and shooting gear. The club used to sell ammo but no longer.

Anybody have experience being through the process of getting a license for a club or individual to sell ammo? we are buying clay by the truckload, I can't help but think there's a way to make the numbers work on shells too? Even if it's a once or twice a year bulk buy.

Clubs need to ensure all regulations involved are followed.

Locking this as I don't want those involved with running a club to get their legal interpretations on CGN.

Please feel free to PM me if you have strong feelings that this thread should be opened up.

Brad.
