Will the extra space cause some problems? I recently did a google search on any reviews I could find for the CMMG conversion kit, someone posted some pics of the thing with a crack near the front of it, specifically, the part that holds the actual 22LR round, and is in the shape of a 223 round to seal the chamber properly. His problem was that he had excessive headspace in his 223 chambered rifle, and this extra space caused the part I mentioned earlier to crack.

So is this kit not for 5.56 barrels? Or have people tried it without any hiccups.

In the pic you'll notice a hairline fracture along the length of the "bolt".

Works fine in mine. A handful cracked like that, and CMMG replaced them promptly with no further direction (eg, they didn't say "and don't use them in 5.56 chambers").

I have a Colt one that I have been using in my R-15 and I haven't had any signs of failure. I think I am going to sell it as I have many 22's and I will just use them instead of my R-15.

I just had mine crack the same as in the pic. Any one send theirs back? If so, did you send it back to Questar? I emailed CMMG and they said to send it back to my supplier. I will call Quest tomorrow.

Something to else watch for with the kit .. On mine, the roll pin that holds the firing pin in place broke, the pin fell out. I found the firing pin on the floor when I removed the conversion kit from my rifle..Lucky it fell out at home and not at the range, I never would have found it! I found the broken roll pin in my rifle case.

I just put over 250 rounds of .22 lr through my LMT AR-15 without any issues tonight.

If you own an AR-15, you have to buy one of these. In fact, it should be the law.

The CMMG .22 conversion kit gets my highest rating.
