I've been searching for a cheap solution to my .223 Swiss Arms crack habit and have come across a CMMG AR-15 based .22 conversion that has last shot bolt hold open and a bolt release button. No other conversions to the best of my knowledge have these features short of buying something like a dedicated 22 like the S&W M&P 15-22.

Anyone know if the CMMG Quebec-A is sold in Canada? Are there dedicated 22s other than the S&W that have last shot bolt hold open and bolt release button? Don't really like the polymer construction of the M&P.

Cheers

I have one of the Quebec uppers... The Stainless steel bolt, bolt hold open upgrade, etc...

It's a FANTASTIC system. It's the most reliable rimfire rifle I've ever owned (~3k rounds with 3 malfunctions)... I can hit a 5cm plate at 50 yards from the kneeling position with Irons. Most people seem to say its a 2-3MOA (@100yrds) gun depending on ammo.

Frankly, I'm so impressed by this rifle, had i not bought one... I would not believe the reliability and accuracy.

I've seen the entire upper's sold for ~$350 with the Bolt hold open adapter, the upper, and 2 mags. Great value.

I thought AR lowers in California had to have the mag permanently installed in the lower so that you have to break open the gun to reload? And WHAT is a Quebec upper, something neutered heavily?

For Centerfire: You have to have either the mag permanently installed or use a "Bullet Button" which requires a tool to be used in order to remove the magazine. It's a pile of FAIL...

For Rimfire: There is a loophole in California Law that can be used for Rimfire Rifles so that the user can use a normal magazine release.

Since this is a rimfire, I can get away with having a standard mag release :D

There is no real "Quebec Upper" it's actually the "code name" designation given to one of the .22LR rifles that CMMG has built (or is/plans to build/ing). Now, the upper's used on the "Quebec" are actually the CMMG Evolution Uppers. Mine is the Sierra Designation.

They will have several other designations within the CMMG Evolution Series:

So, to directly answer your question... The Quebec is not a neutered version... It's the whole-shibang.

Incoming special order from brownells.

CMMG BHO kit + 4x folllowers.

Congrats! I think you'll like it...

the followers sometimes require some tuning to get working properly, but its not too bad. Certainly much cheaper for those of us that already have a bunch of mags..
