Hi All

I bought a CMMG upper from Questar last summer. I've enjoyed it alot, but often have troubles with it. I know most .22's (that I've owned anyway) require some tweaking to get them to fire properly... I'm definitely still in the tweaking stage.

Currently, it will "shave" off a small, fingernail sized, piece of lead from each bullet that cycles. It is being shaved off by the top of the chamber, as it is feeding at too steep an angle. Often shells don't feed at all and are jammed half in the breach at 45 degrees or so.

The shavings eventually clog up the whole assembly. Before that though, I often get either soft primer strikes (because there's a piece of lead inbetween the case and the strike face of the chamber) or worse yet, fill fire out of battery and burst the case. This is because the lead filings provide resistance so the cartridge doesn't fully seat.

Has anyone had this problem? Any thoughts on it? I have googled etc and can't find anything.

Cheers

Barry

I've jist been told that the cmmg uppers don't come with the bolt or charging handle. What bolt are you using. Cmmg or chiappa? I'm looking at getting the cmmg upper so your info is vey helpful!
Could it be the feed ramps, maybe fixing them?

Yes, it's the CMMG bolt. I am guessing it's either the feed ramp angle or the mags, but I've got six mags and they all seem to do it. It worked pretty good before, the third box of 555 ammo I put through had 0 malfunctions. I'm sure I'll track down what is the problem.
