cmmg uppers in 300aac blackout

Brownells can't ship you any AR upper without an export permit - that's the way it goes with international arms transactions (which is what you're talking about). Questar may be able to bring one in for you (provided you want an exportable one - no FH, or short barrel) but they have to get permits too - it's bureaucracy, and it's expensive. You may want to look into having one built in Canada, ATR could probably build you a better one at the same price as importing one. That way you won't get "raped" 3 or more times if you have an issue and it has to be worked on.

too have, like most guns in Canada...

Me I'm getting a 9" AAC one to use my 762QDC/CQB suppressor on, (for my SR-25 but its .30 cal so why get an other)

I was debating 6.8 or 300... but I need to do more ballistics comparison first just to see what's what. No doubt the 300 looks more "interesting" :D

And what would be the purpose of this 300 Blackout upper, in CANADA?

What would be the purpose? Do we need a purpose?

I would love one just for the variety of shooting .30 cal with all of the available reloading components while still using most of my AR parts like the mags, bolt, even the .223 cases once modified. The first 10.5"ish 300 BLK barrel or upper to hit Canadian shores will get my sale.

I have to admit, I'm quite liking the idea of a subsonic .300 whisper for predators... i wish ATR would bring back the XCR conversion...

I couldn't give a rats *ss why he wants it, that's his business, not mine - but he did show a lack of understanding of the nature of the transaction he was entering into that I found somewhat alarming. We really need to become more educated about the nature of the industry that we interact with, it would benefit both us as shooters and the industry.

It's not a question of need.....

And what would be the purpose of this 300 Blackout upper, in CANADA?

Hahahahaha you guys go t**s up over such insignificant things, it's unreal...

Not really...it's just the BS attitude some people have (unfortunately that includes a percentage of shooters too) of having the need for buyers to justify the purchase of a particular firearm.

The folks who would know say that 300AAC is a virtual clone of 300 Whisper, ATR can definitely do those.

To my understanding, and correct me if I'm wrong, but the Whisper / Blackout issue is similiar to the Betamax / VHS design conflict (my apologies to some of the greener readers who don't know what a VCR or Betamax are... can't help you there;)) .

SSK took the Sony road and trademarked the Whisper name in the 90's; then sat on it, with some success, marketing it only for themselves and licenced distributors, however it never popped as much more than a wildcat round due to infringement issues.

AAC has taken the concept and, with some very slight changes, opened the round to manufacturers without having to fork out royalties. As such the 300 BLK is now SAAMI registered as an independant round and there are over 200 hardware and ammo manufacturers in support of the calibre.

I foresee the SSK Whisper round to eventually dieing a slow death if it doesn't ratify its business model to compete on an open field. Why pay royalties to a company when you can recieve better support and the same functionality without paying any royalites to anyone?

I think my next build will be the Blackout as I think thats where the long term product support will come from.
