I am wanting to mount a Red Dot sight/scope on a 1911 .45.

But I don't know if I want an open sight like a C-More or OKO.....or a tube type scope like a Tasco PDP3 or Leupold Gilmore etc.

I don't have the luxury of trying one out or even holding one in my hand before I buy it so I am looking for a little input on the two different styles.

I am thinking 8 to 10 MOA, I will be using it for plinking target, or informal IPSC shooting. Basically just to play around with.

The goods, the bads, the uglies, pros, cons....any help is greatly apreciated.

Thanks,
Buddy

8-10MOA dot?

A 10MOA dot would be retarded big. That's covering 2.5 inches at 25yards. Can't really be accurate with that. Anyway, most red dots have a 1-2 MOA dot anyway....

If you want fast action, I think a sight like a C-more or Holosight are best. I've never been a fan of tube red dot sights.

hello
a 8moa dot is perfect for IPSC, you need a dot thats fast and easy to see, in ipsc your shooting targets ave. distance of 12-15 yrds. small dots are fine in long distance targets.and remember the IPSC A zone is huge. I use 10moa and never had a problem hitting a 25 yrd round metal target
